Home Office Monitoring
Regular health checks for work-critical home network connections — detecting configuration drift and connectivity problems before they affect remote work.
What This Service Addresses
A home network configured to professional standards can drift over time — router firmware updates change settings, ISP equipment changes, new devices are added, and configurations gradually shift from the intended state. For remote workers who depend on their home network for their livelihood, catching these drifts before they produce outages is valuable.
This is a limited monitoring service — not 24/7 reactive support, but regular scheduled health checks that identify and address emerging problems before they become disruptions.
What Is Monitored
- Scheduled health checks of critical network components
- Connectivity status and latency verification
- VPN tunnel stability review
- Configuration state comparison against baseline
- Firmware and update status review
- Summary report with findings and any recommended actions
What You Receive
- Monthly health check report
- Identification of configuration drift or emerging issues
- Recommended actions with implementation priority
- Quarterly review of the network configuration baseline
Important Note
This service does not include reactive 24/7 support or emergency response. It is a proactive, scheduled service. For situations requiring immediate response, the emergency troubleshooting or remote support services apply.
Typical Situations
- Remote worker who needs to maintain a professional home network without IT department support
- Previous network setup that needs to be kept in correct configuration over time
- Peace of mind that the home office network is performing as intended
Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly is monitored?
Internet connectivity (uptime, latency, speed), key home office devices (router, access points, switches), and optionally specific services you depend on such as video conferencing platforms. Monitoring is focused on connectivity, not personal data or device activity.
Is this intrusive on my privacy?
No. Monitoring is limited to network-level metrics — packet loss, response times, connection state. It does not inspect the content of your traffic. You retain full control over what is monitored and can stop the service at any time.
What happens when an issue is detected?
An alert is sent — by email, SMS, or similar — and depending on the arrangement, the issue may be investigated proactively without waiting for you to report it. The aim is that you learn about problems from the monitoring before you experience them yourself.
What equipment is required on my end?
A lightweight monitoring agent or compatible router with SNMP or API access. Ubiquiti UniFi systems, some consumer routers with firmware extensions, and dedicated mini-PC options are all compatible. This is assessed during setup.
